Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that permission has not yet been granted for NC’s protest planned at Jantar‑Mantar on July 20, and alleged that some opposition parties and other groups are deliberately changing their event dates to the same day at Jantar‑Mantar to disrupt or sabotage their demonstration. Speaking to journalists, Omar said his party National Conference’s objective is to press the central government to restore Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood.

Omar said that the “Cockroach Janata Party” received permission within 24 hours, while his team has been applying for permission for the past four to five days. He also alleged that some political parties and other groups are shifting their event dates so they converge at Jantar‑Mantar on the same day, creating confusion over the availability of space and the granting of permission for the protest.

The chief minister indicated that the lack of permission is affecting preparations for the protest and urged the relevant authorities to act quickly. He said the invitation to join the protest has been extended to several political parties and personalities including Sonia Gandhi by National conference president Farooq Abdullah.

Jammu and Kashmir’s ruling National Conference is planning a mega protest led by its party Chief Farooq Abdullah to amplify the demand to restore the region’s statehood before the central government.
