Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday performed the annual ‘Pratham Puja’ at the Holy Cave of Shri Amarnath Ji, marking the ceremonial start of this year’s pilgrimage and extending an open invitation to devotees to join the 57-day Yatra beginning July 3.

Seeking the blessings of Baba Barfani, the LG prayed for peace, prosperity, health and well‑being for all. He said the Jammu and Kashmir administration, the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB), the Army, police, security forces, local communities, service providers and volunteers are working “in complete synergy” to ensure a safe, hassle‑free and memorable pilgrimage.

“With significantly upgraded infrastructure, enhanced facilities, and the invaluable support of the people of Jammu & Kashmir, we are fully prepared to welcome devotees for a spiritually fulfilling journey,” Mr. Sinha said.

Amarnath Shrine Board conducts the Pratham Puja annually on Jyeshtha Purnima. The 2026 Yatra will run for 57 days, commencing simultaneously on the traditional Pahalgam axis in Anantnag district and the Baltal route in Ganderbal district on July 3, and concluding on August 28, Raksha Bandhan.

Senior civil and police officials including DGP Nalin Prabhat; Principal Secretary to the LG and CEO, SASB; also attended the Poja.

Authorities said preparations this year have focused on infrastructure upgradation, improved pilgrim amenities and strengthened security arrangements across both routes. Local stakeholders and volunteer groups are providing logistical and medical support, while police and security forces will maintain round‑the‑clock vigil to ensure safe passage for yatris.

The Shrine Board and administration have issued standard guidelines for pilgrims on route selection, health precautions, and mandatory permits; officials urged devotees to follow official advisories and cooperate with security and medical teams to ensure an orderly Yatra.
