Ivanka Trump allegedly targeted for an assassination plot tied to the killing of Qasem Soleimani: Report

Ivanka Trump, US President Donald Trump’s daughter, was the target of an assassination plot by an Iraqi terrorist with ties to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawood Al-Saadi, 32, who was recently arrested by US authorities on federal terrorism charges, allegedly made a “pledge” to kill Ivanka Trump in retaliation for the 2020 US drone strike that killed his mentor, Iranian commander Qasem Soleimani.

According to a report by the New York Post, citing sources, said that Al-Saadi even possessed a blueprint of Trump’s Florida home as part of the planning.

The accused Al-Saadi faces multiple terrorism-related charges for allegedly directing attacks and planning operations in the US and elsewhere.

American authorities have stated that the plots were thwarted, and Ivanka Trump remains safe, as per the NYP report.

No official statement has been released by the Trump family or the White House at the time of writing. This incident comes amid heightened US-Iran tensions.

Trump cancels Memorial weekend plans; stays in Washington

Earlier, US President Trump canceled his plans to attend his son Donald Jr’s  wedding, over a possible new military conflict with Iran.

The move comes as a fragile ceasefire between the United States and Iran appears close to collapsing, raising fears of fresh strikes and wider regional instability.

In a Truth Social post, Trump said, “While I very much wanted to be with my son, Don Jr., and the newest member of the Trump Family, his soon-to-be wife, Bettina, circumstances pertaining to Government, and my love for the United States of America, do not allow me to do so. I feel it is important for me to remain in Washington, D.C., at the White House during this important period of time. Congratulations to Don and Bettina!”

Stressing his required presence in Washington, Trump hinted at a possible development at ‘this important period of time.’

Qasem Soleimani’s death in US strike in 2020

Qasem Soleimani, commander of the IRGC’s elite Quds Force, was killed on January 3, 2020, in a targeted US drone strike near Baghdad International Airport in Iraq.

Ordered by then-President Donald Trump, the strike involved an MQ-9 Reaper drone that fired missiles at Soleimani’s convoy as it left the airport after his arrival from Damascus.

The attack also killed Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, deputy head of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces, and several others.

The Trump administration justified the operation as necessary to deter imminent attacks on American personnel and interests, citing Soleimani’s role in orchestrating violence across the region through Iranian proxies. The killing dramatically escalated US-Iran tensions, prompting Iranian missile strikes on US bases in Iraq and vows of long-term revenge that continue to motivate figures like Al-Saadi six years later.
