‘I have not slept for two…’: Father of Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke expresses fear over possible arrest

The rapid rise of satirical online platform ‘Cockroach Janta Party’ (CJP) has now become a matter of concern for the family of founder Abhijeet Dipke. His parents have publicly expressed fear that his political satire and growing social media popularity could land him in legal trouble. Dipke, a student at Boston University and a former associate of the Aam Aadmi Party, recently gained massive online attention after launching the digital campaign. His platform quickly went viral, with millions of followers joining within days across social media platforms.

Parents Fear Political Trouble

Speaking to a Marathi news channel, Abhijeet Dipke’s parents, Bhagwan Dipke and Anita Dipke from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, said they are deeply worried about their son’s involvement in political satire. Bhagwan Dipke admitted that he fears his son could face arrest because of his online activities and political commentary.

He said Abhijeet himself had earlier expressed concerns about possible legal action after returning to India. Anita Dipke also said she does not want her son to continue in politics and hopes he focuses on a stable professional career instead. According to the family, the sudden fame and public attention have created anxiety at home.

From Engineering To Viral Political Satire

The family revealed that Abhijeet completed his schooling in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar before moving to Pune for higher education. His mother said engineering studies became difficult for him, after which he shifted towards journalism and mass communication.

Later, he moved abroad for further studies in journalism while his sister was already settled there. His parents said they had always hoped he would take up a regular job in cities like Pune or Delhi instead of entering politics or activism.

How Cockroach Janta Party Went Viral

The Cockroach Janta Party trend started after controversy surrounding remarks allegedly linked to Chief Justice of India Surya Kant during a court hearing. Dipke claimed the satirical idea emerged after reports suggested terms like “cockroaches” and “parasites” were used while discussing fake degree holders in the legal profession.

Although the Chief Justice later clarified the remarks were misquoted, the satire platform rapidly gained popularity online. Using a cockroach as its symbol, the page posts memes, mock campaign graphics and political satire focusing on unemployment, education, exam paper leaks and youth-related issues.

The platform also faced scrutiny after its X account was withheld in India following a legal demand. Dipke later announced a new account titled “Cockroach Is Back.”
