The makers of the upcoming musical drama Eetha unveiled its much-anticipated trailer on Friday (October 30). Starring Shraddha Kapoor in the titular role, the film captures the inspiring journey of Eetha Bai, a trailblazing performer who defied social conventions and fought against all odds to establish herself as an icon in the world of traditional Lavani.
Spanning nearly three minutes, the trailer offers a vivid glimpse into the cultural richness and high-energy music of Lavani while depicting Eetha Bai’s arc from a determined young girl to a celebrated legend. Beyond the spotlight, the preview also highlights the personal sacrifices, fading fame, and societal resistance that defined her life.
Shraddha Kapoor on connecting with Eetha Bai’s legacy
Speaking about taking on such an emotionally demanding and culturally grounded role, at an grand trailer launch event in Mumbai, Shraddha Kapoor shared how deeply she connected with the central character during the prep process.
“It’s a story about a woman whose art, courage and individuality make her unforgettable,” Shraddha said at the trailer launch. “The more Laxman sir told me about the character, the more I felt connected to her world. Playing this role has been an exciting experience, and I am thrilled for audiences to discover her journey on the big screen.”
Director Laxman Utekar shifts gears after ‘Chhaava’
Eetha marks director Laxman Utekar’s next big-screen venture following the massive success of Chhaava. While moving from a historical epic to a musical drama, Utekar emphasised that both narratives share a core theme of extraordinary resilience.
“After the blockbuster success of Chhaava, which became a mega cinematic spectacle, I wanted to take audiences into a completely different world with Eetha,” Utekar stated in a press note. “While the two films are vastly different in their settings, both are rooted in the extraordinary strength of their central characters. Eetha is the story of an artist who became a legacy. We have brought together authenticity, emotion and scale to create a cinematic experience that audiences can truly immerse themselves in.”
Stellar cast & release date
In addition to Shraddha Kapoor, Eetha features a powerhouse supporting cast, including Randeep Hooda, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and Siddharth Jadhav in crucial roles. The film’s soundtrack and background score are composed by the acclaimed duo Ajay-Atul, bringing authentic musical grandeur to the narrative.
