The Delhi Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, approved the ‘Delhi Building and Construction Workers Health Scheme’, formulated to give healthcare protection to registered building and construction workers and their families, who are residing in the city.

The initiative aims to benefit nearly 2.70 lakh enrolled construction workers and their kin, covering close to 10 lakh individuals.

Under this scheme, registered construction workers and their eligible family members, including spouses, children and parents, will get free and quality healthcare services through empanelled hospitals and mobile health units.

The limit for a family is up to `10 lakh, and each enrolled worker will be eligible for treatment up to `2 lakh at empanelled hospitals. The whole treatment process will be cashless, and there will be no financial burden on workers and their families

Apart from the cashless treatments, the eligible beneficiaries can also avail the annual health check-ups.

CM Gupta highlighted that the construction workers are the pillars of the capital’s development, and ensuring better healthcare and expanding social security remain central to the government’s agenda. Accordingly, the Cabinet has approved a major health scheme.
