The speedboat, identified as AG-26751, was operated by Ocean Pearl Island Co. It was carrying 32 Indian tourists and four Vietnamese crew members. The vessel had departed from Hon May Rut Ngoai for an island-hopping tour when it overturned near Phu Quoc Island.

The incident took place around 1 PM when the speedboat unexpectedly malfunctioned and capsized,  Local news website VnExpress shared this update citing information from the Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone authorities.
