Jantar Mantar no more a protest site
Delhi Police on Monday, October 12, designated three new venues for organising protests and demonstrations in the national capital, while de-notifying Jantar Mantar as a protest site. The decision followed the recommendations of a committee constituted by the Ministry of Home Affairs to examine alternative proper sites for citizens to exercise their right to stage protests. The three new designated venues are Ramlila Ground, Burari Ground, and CBD Ground, East Delhi.
The CJP had given a protest call at the site on Sunday, October 10. Its top leaders Dipke, Das and Ranka were detained from inside their flight as they landed at Indira Gandhi International Airport. Thousands of demonstrators have been detained over Saturday and Sunday as the streets of the national capital witnessed massive protests and a crackdown.
