Delhi terror plot busted: 8 arrested in alleged terror module linked to Pakistan based gangster Shahzad Bhatti, ISI angle under probe

The Special Cell of Delhi Police has carried out a major operation and claimed to have foiled a plan linked to Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI. Police arrested 8 people from different cities during action against a module linked to Pakistani gangster Shahzad Bhatti. According to investigators, all the accused were in direct contact with Bhatti and his handlers in Pakistan through social media.

Initial investigation suggests that the group was planning a major terror attack in Delhi. Some VIPs and important locations were also among their targets, and they had already conducted reconnaissance of these places.

Electronic devices recovered from the accused have revealed several important clues linked to cross-border terror networks.

 

Plan for a Major Attack in Delhi

During questioning, the arrested accused reportedly admitted that they were assigned tasks to carry out attacks in crowded areas of Delhi. The module was not only planning blasts but was also preparing for targeted killings in the city.

Police said the accused had already completed reconnaissance of several sensitive and important locations in Delhi. The Special Cell is now investigating the wider network and those who may have supported them.

How Shahzad Bhatti’s Module Was Operating

According to police, Shahzad Bhatti was operating from Pakistan, including from prisons and other secure locations. He was recruiting young people through social media. The 8 arrested accused belong to different cities but were connected digitally. Police have seized multiple electronic gadgets and suspicious documents from them.

 

Analysis of these devices suggests that Bhatti was planning to supply weapons and funds to the module. Officials also suspect that this network may have links with other criminal gangs.

 

Are Other Gangs Also Involved?

During the investigation, Delhi Police found that ISI may be using gangsters for terror-related activities. Based on information from the arrested accused, police are now taking action against other gangs that may have indirectly supported them.

 

Officials said this is a hybrid model where criminals are being used for terror activities. Police believe more arrests are likely in the coming days as the investigation continues. connected to each other and to handlers through social media and other communication platforms.
